1. Department. Free University of Berlin, Germany. The Institute of Biology – Systematic Botany and Phytogeography, comprises scientists with core expertises in plant systematics and taxonomy, with emphasis on field and lab based morphological and molecular methods and distribution and evolution of neotropical plant groups, including floral and reproductive ecology.

2. Expertise. Through a close connection to the private company several economic botany projects have been carried out at the institute, including domestication and sustainable wild harvest of northwestern South American plants. There are well established connections and projects with universities in South America.

3. Main contributions of the team to the project: Leader of WP4 including a critical investigation of the value and cost chains of palm products evaluating current and potential economic contribution at local and international markets.
