Mónica Moraes (Steering commitee member)

Botanist with Ph.D. from Aarhus University in Denmark. She has studied Bolivian palms since 1987 focusing on biology, taxonomy, ecology, management, and conservation. She teaches biology at the University and has supervised 35 thesis students. She has been director of the National Herbarium and of the Institute of Ecology, and has participated in research projects funded by both larger (USAID, Danida) and smaller grants (IFS, Red Latinoamericana de Botánica). She has published 50 scientific articles and edited six books.
