Participating researchers UAMManuel J. Macía (Steering commitee member)Tropical botanist with more than 10 years of field experience in northwestern South America, particularly in the western Amazon. His research focus is the patterns of plant use and value by rural and indigenous people, plant-community ecology and relationships between people, plants and habitats. He has carried out quantitative ethno-botanical and economic botany studies in Ecuador, Bolivia and Mexico. He is Assistant Professor (Profesor Titular interino) at UAM. He has published more than 50 papers about his research issues on tropical botany and vegetation ecology. Manuel Pardo de SantayanaHe is an ethno-botanist that has worked extensively in the Iberian Peninsula and Ecuador. He contributes with expertise in data-bases and data management, has taught several ethno-botanical courses, and supervised some PhD and graduate students. He has published several scientific papers, book chapters and books concerning ethno-botany. |
