1. Department. The Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) is a French public science and technology research institute. With a total budget of EUR 177 millions, and more than 2100 employees, of whom 75% are tenured staff with 830 researchers and 800 engineers, technicians and administrative, IRD bases include 5 research centers in France and 5 others in French overseas Department and Territories. IRD operates in 25 tropical countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Pacific.

2. Expertise. IRD conducts scientific programs contributing to the sustainable development of the countries of the South, with an emphasis on the relationship between man and the environment.

3. Main contributions of the team to the project: Community ecology (WP1 and WP2), quantification of anthropogenic effects on ecosystems and limits of functioning (WP2), development of molecular markers for the palm species studied and coordination of genotyping activities (WP2).
